In June 2022 we celebrated HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, and joined 1,500 other locations across the UK in lighting a beacon atop Dun na Cuaiche. We were privileged to be joined by Pipe Major Stuart Liddell MBE who played Diu Regnare, the official piping tune composed by Stuart himself as a tribute to Her Majesty on this special occasion. His Grace, the Duke of Argyll, then had the honour of lighting the beacon.
In further recognition of Her Majesty’s remarkable 70 years of service, we have taken part in the Queen’s Green Canopy scheme by planting seven different trees within the Castle Policies. The trees, including a Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum), a Pin Oak (Quercus palustris) and a Red Canadian Maple (Acer rubrum) , have been planted in the field below the castle, with a commemorative plaque placed on the fence. We hope the trees will flourish and provide a green legacy of their own as they grow.
