A vacancy has arisen for the position of Assistant Gardener at Inveraray Castle.  The position is fixed-term until the 30th November 2025, with potential to be offered on a permanent basis thereafter.

The Assistant Gardener will assist the Head Gardener in maintaining the private gardens at the Castle, and their duties will include:

1. Lawn care and maintenance.
2. Plant husbandry.
3. Weed and pest control.
4. Maintaining annual plant displays.
5. Care and maintenance of house plants inside the castle.
6. Providing a welcoming presence for the visiting public and answering queries.
7. Assisting in the production of cut-flowers for display inside the castle and tearoom.
8. Assisting with arboriculture work.
9. Liaising with volunteers.
10. Liaising with the Duke and Duchess of Argyll.
11. Undertaking tasks outwith the garden when required.
12. Adhering to health and safety policies.

The position is primarily outdoors and the successful candidate should be prepared to work in all weather conditions and to perform physical tasks as part of the role.

The successful candidate should be hard working and conscientious, with practical experience and good communication skills.

The hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8am – 5pm.  Additional hours and weekend working may be required from time to time.

Vacancies have arisen for Tour Guides to join our team at Inveraray Castle for the 2025 season. These positions can be either Full or Part-time, and will involve conducting castle tours and answering visitor queries.

An interest in Scottish History would be an advantage. Full on-the-job training will be provided.

Successful candidates must be friendly and outgoing and enjoy providing a high degree of customer service.

The position involves constant interaction with the public and we take pride in our high customer services standard, so the successful candidate must display similar attributes.  This can be an exceptionally busy venue during the summer months.
